ABOUT ME

The first candle I ever made was the result of a spur-of-the-moment candle-making kit I had purchased online. I was looking for a creative outlet to balance out the demands of doing (or at least trying to do) a PhD. To say it spiraled out of control would be an understatement! Learning the craft of soy wax candle making, and being able to combine it with my love of desserts and sweet scents has become a wonderful, fulfilling journey which has definitely made the endless studying more bearable. And the added bonus is that my house always smells like a bakery! While most of my day is spent poring over old, Spanish novels, it's always a wonderful treat to end it with an exciting batch of sugary candle treats.

OUR NAME

I wouldn't judge you for thinking the "wick" in Borthwick was the reason I decided to name this company Borthwick Candleland Treats. In fact, it was a happy coincidence! The reason is a little more sentimental (corny?) than that. Borthwick was the street I grew up on in good ole Auckland. Since moving to Matamata, I do find myself getting a bit nostalgic for my old home, but I'd be lying if I said I didn't love every moment of living here!
